Route Overview

One of the first National forest Scenic Byways, the Talimena Scenic Drive is located in the western part of the Ouachita Mountains. This 64 mile scenic highway cuts through the breathtaking Ouachita Mountains along the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas. Along this route are several historic sites and numerous pullouts with panoramic vistas, cutting through evergreen and deciduous trees making for gorgeous floral displays in spring and brilliant color in autumn.
