Strada Statale Amalfitana is one of the most beautiful and famous routes in the world, it follows the shoreline along the stretch of the Amalfi Coast between the southern Italian towns of Sorrento and Amalfi in Italy. Built originally by the Romans the road is carved out of the side of the coastal cliffs giving views to the Tyrrhenian Sea and the cliffs above.
Best time to visit this route is somewhere in mid-September to October and May when the roads are a little less crowded. It's considered as one of the best coastal drive in the world famous for its hairpin bends, zig zags, views over the sea and the narrowness in some parts. The surface of the road is asphalted and is one of the worlds scenic drives with stunning views of the Italian coast breathtaking turquoise waters crashing below as drivers twist and turn along along the winding road.
