Route Overview

Top to bottom the Great Alpine road starts at Myrtleford and runs all the way through to the Bairnsdale town. Heading south from Sydney or Brisbane this road just south of Bright having lies across the excellent Tawonga Gap road. Through the routes you get to via Murray Valley highway and even better Murray River road after the Snowy mountains.

The road further gets pleasant continuing south until Harrietville where the climb begins. The climbs are steep and very tight cornered right up to the snow gums. The roads runs along the edge of the mountain bit straight and a mix of corners and have a special Alpine road tar. Greate view are on offering at the Mountain Hotham before climbing up steep valley. The road has a mix of quick turns and drops along making it thrilling to drive. A true delight for riders.
